Borage Oil Supplement Review

Borage oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the processing of the borage plant (Borage officinalis). The borage plant comes from Asia, but is also cultivated in northern Africa and in many European countries, including France, England, Germany and the Netherlands. Borage oil is very desirable for use in both dietetics and cosmetics, as it is rich in the fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid. Gamma-linolenic acid has been shown to maintain skin moisture, block inflammatory substances and reduce redness and itching of the skin.Clinical research shows that Borage Oil helps maintain healthy moisturized skin and joint flexibility.

Since GLA (Gamma-linolenic acid) is rarely found in foods and many factors block the body's ability to make its own, Borage Oil is an affordable way to meet daily GLA needs.

Are there any side effects? Borageseeds contain small amounts of liver toxins called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). However, testing has not demonstrated the presence of the alkaloid in the seed oil.20 Most commercially available borage seed oil is, therefore, likely to be PA-free and presents no risk of PA toxicity. Minor side effects from borage oil use can include bloating, nausea, indigestion, and headache.
